Badam Babe is more than a bakery-- it's a diary documenting my experiments in the kitchen, as I fuse my Indian and American roots into food I can share with friends and family.

I grew up in a family of food obsessed people– learning how to bake from my mom, spending nights at the dinner table talking passionately about flavors and recipes with my dad and sister, designing patterns I could print on cakes and cookies with my brother and creating elaborate Thanksgiving dinners with all of them every November.

When I moved away from home to start a career in journalism, I sought refuge in the kitchen. My flavor combinations reflect a harmony of my hyphenated-American identity: Bournvita chocolate malt mixed with morning coffee or summer strawberries splashed with rose water. By day, I’m a reporter for a public radio station in the Bay Area. By night, I’m Badam Babe, baking up something warm and sweet in my kitchen.
